The Creation of a Wait List

In August I made the decision to put a cap on intakes for daycare at Royal K9 Korner.
At that time, I only had 4 new dogs requesting daycare along with my other two previous ‘regulars’ who were on my spay/neuter wait list.
I said I would revisit my numbers come September. September is walking out the door. My regular visitors numbers have remained the same, as I knew they would. I will be welcoming a long-awaited M&G for one of our sweeties who was waiting for her spay.
Mid Oct. Miss Lista will be here! A welcome will be posted at that time.

I believe it’s still necessary to keep my numbers where they are. I am well aware that the need for daycare/play-days is ever growing.

Royal K9 Korner's Regulars as of July 2023
Every day I have at least one newcomer asking for, not just info, but daycare.  It’s become necessary for me to create a reply that is easily edited to allow me to respond individually to these folks. I will post that on Facebook so I can link to it even more easily.

My next plan of action is to revisit newcomer intakes when the new fence has been completed and the yard is back to it’s safe standard.
I‘m wondering if I will be able to do a few intakes with the understanding that daycare will only follow if the needed chosen day has visitor(s) previously booked that are ‘easy’ dogs. Base the visits more on my current health condition and the necessary care for daily dogs needs. I'm recovering from a back injury and I must take it slow.
I really don’t like telling people ‘no’ when I know full well, they NEED their dog to be taken care of during the day. They love their sweetie and want him/her to have a more social day. Instead of sitting home alone while they shop out of town or for days on end while mom/dad are at work.

Is there a way I can do that? I don’t know.
I believe the fence and yard should be back to its regular safe standard by November. Yes, I’m pushing the date closer to winter. There’s no sense pretending we can work faster than we can. We can only work in the yard on weekends and my time and strength at this time, does not allow daily yard-work when I am taking care of the dogs.

To sum it up ~
* I’ll continue with a wait list for those who wish to be added to it.
* I’ll begin the M&G process again with an understanding that daycare is conditional, based on availability and current visitors.
* Current regulars take priority.
* Everything changes if Lady May’s health is put in jeopardy. (Current health status to follow)

Thank you to everyone for their continued support and understanding.

Mid September

We’ve had a full summer of daycare along with a few worrisome days due to wildfire activity. Both are currently ongoing, although our recent rainfall has diminished a few. Thank goodness!
Please join us as we continue to send positive thoughts to those still struggling to get through this season safely. We’re thankful to everyone involved in assisting to fight the fires, from ground, to office, to the sky! You are all our heros. Thank You!

Our hearts go out to the friends and families of those who have tragically passed during this season. Thank you for your service! Your heroism will always be remembered.
We're hopeful the near future will bring happier, safer days for us all! Paws crossed

The visitors who kept me smiling over the last weeks were, Sir Cash, and Countess River and Sage, Sir Henry, Matron Sadie, Bailey, and Ruby.
Sir Cash, Countess River, Bailey and Sage enjoy a cool, almost, smoke-free  morning
Bailey torments Sage with his toy possession.

Bailey happily shares the toys without exerting the least bit of energy.

Bailey- "Hey, Henry! Get up! We're not done yet"
Henry - "I'm done."

Bailey - "Come on Ruby, PULL!"
Ruby - "I am!"

Sadie and Ruby waiting for Bailey to arrive.
When Sadie visits lately, she really likes to take advantage of a few respite moments from the youngsters at home. She will saunter out and around the yard, or find a quiet spot to lay. She is content to stroll around but play is not foremost on her agenda these days.
Ruby tries her best to entice Sadie to play.

Ruby gives Sadie's owie a gentle sniff and kiss. So helpful
Ruby has a very gentle side and when ruff 'n tumble play is not on the menu that part of her personality really shines through. She really is a sweetheart. She doesn't interfere with Sadie's respite at all. She just happily tags along with her.

Sadie and Ruby enjoy the pool while it's still available. It soon will go away for the winter.

Bailey and Henry enjoy a few days of pool play while it lasts.
Last weekend we began the removal of the old hedge fence line. It's finally cool enough to work on it. The 'post hole driller machine' (I have no idea what it's really called) has been hired and will be here in two weeks. Yahoo!
Ruby and Sadie not at all phased by the absence of the hedge.

Until the new fence is in place, the dogs will have limited access to the back play yard. I've also been  limiting the intakes to keep a safe area.  So far no one seems to care. Such good dogs.
Thank you to my wonderful hubby and son for putting in long hard hours of cutting, pruning, ripping and tearing that sad old hedge down. Finally we're on the way to a more secure, less upkeep and much better looking fence! I can't wait! I'm hoping I can get crackin' and post a few more photos on Facebook. Be sure to check it out.
Bring on the Fall. I'm ready!
